After our beautiful stay in the City of Lakes, Udaipur, we decided to visit one of the must beautiful gems of India. Know as “The Blue City”, Jodhpur is full of history, big forts and unique colorful houses. In this article we will explain what you can do and visit in this place!

1. MEHRANGARH FORT AND MUSEUM
The Mehrangarh Fort is one of the largest forts of India and is situated 125 m above the city. The fort at night is fully lit, and the views are completely impressive. For its high and detailed walls.
Inside the fort you can find a museum, which is one of the most well-stocked museums in India. The museum exhibits the heritage of the Rathores in arms, customs, paintings and decorated period.
The prices are:
– Adult: 600 INR (approx. €7,50) included Audio Guide
– Student: 400 INR (approx. €5,00) included Audio Guide
– Photography Permit (Professional Camera): 100 INR (approx. €1,20)
The timetable: 9 AM – 5 PM
Beside the museum you can find as well some temples and a sunset view point with a view for the all city!
2. TOORJI KA JHALRA BAVDI
One of the things you will find most in India, is Stepwells (are wells or ponds in which the water is reached by descending a set of steps to the water level) and Toorji Ka Jhalra Bavdi is the most famous stepwell in Jaipur.
We recommend to visit it on the afternoon, you will see a lot of the kids taking bath and jumping!
The entrance is free.

3. PACHETIA HILL
Just right next to the fort you will find a way to go to Pachetia Hill. Pachetia Hill is a hill in the middle of the city, which offer a 360o degrees view for the blue city.
When we visited the hill was closed by police. However, a nice gentleman let us pass to see the view and take some pictures.
4. GHANTA GHAR
Ghanta Char, also know as the Clock Tower, is one of the highlights of this city. It is possible to go to the top of the tower, which offers a beautiful view of the market and the center of Jodhpur.
The price is around 20 INR (approx. €0,25).
5. SARDAR MARKET
Sardar Market is one of the oldest street markets in the middle of the city and is located near the Clock Tower.
In this market you will find a lot of eateries, craft vendors, clothes and delicious fruits and vegetables.
Get lost in this iconic market!!
6. BLUE CITY
What is the best way to visit a city like Jodhpur? Set foot on the path and walk aimlessly.
Don’t worry about the map or GPS, just walk. You’ll see that you’ll find amazing details and places. Between vendors, kids playing cricket and swimming in the lake.
Do you know why the city is blue?
The main functions of the blue color are to give freshness for the hot hours and mosquito repellent. I’ts funny right?
